Description
Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer
Reid Health
Richmond, IN
The Opportunity:
Reid Health is seeking an accomplished, collaborative and highly visible nursing executive to serve as its next Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the CNO will join Reid at an important point in the organization's evolution, one characterized by strong financial performance, growing patient volumes, significant investments in technology and innovation, improving patient experience, and a renewed focus on organizational culture, accountability and collaboration.
This is an opportunity for a nursing leader who wants to make a meaningful and visible impact. Reid has many of the foundational elements necessary to support exceptional nursing practice: strong relationships with local nursing schools, an established pipeline of new graduate nurses, advanced clinical technology, a highly developed Epic environment, and an executive team committed to engaging directly with frontline caregivers. The next CNO will have the opportunity to bring these assets together through a cohesive nursing strategy that strengthens culture, develops leaders, improves retention and advances clinical excellence.
The Position:
The Vice President and CNO is the senior executive responsible for nursing practice and nursing leadership across Reid Health. The CNO provides strategic, clinical, operational and administrative leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centered care while creating an environment in which nurses and nursing leaders can thrive. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CNO will serve first and foremost as an enterprise leader, contributing to decisions and strategies that extend beyond nursing. The successful executive will bring a system perspective to organizational issues, build strong relationships with C-suite peers and physician leaders, and make decisions based upon what is best for patients and Reid Health as a whole. The CNO will lead the continued transformation of nursing culture and practice, strengthen accountability and engagement, build leadership capability and succession, advance workforce recruitment and retention strategies, and partner closely with Quality and Patient Safety leadership as Reid continues its high-reliability journey. The Vice President / Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for overseeing and directing nursing departments and nursing practice across the healthcare system. The CNO provides leadership to Nursing Units, Emergency Services, Urgent Care, Quality and Patient Safety, Cardiovascular Procedures and Diagnostics, ROSE, Crothall, Reid Health Ambulance, and Community Ambulance Partners. The CNO provides strategic guidance, administrative expertise and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care while promoting a positive work environment for nursing staff. The CNO is accountable at the strategic level for planning, development of new services, policy formation, human resource management and organizational effectiveness, financial performance, patient care services operations, and medical and management staff relations. In addition, the CNO provides leadership to clinically transform the healthcare delivery structure and position the organization to be a leader in a value-based/risk delivery model. Expertise in program development, clinical standards development, clinical staffing systems, care models, contracting, information systems, reimbursement, and a broad vision for the future of the healthcare industry are essential to this position.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Master of Science in Nursing or Master of Health Administration preferred.
