- Primary Care Provider
Description
Are you looking to practice primary care in an environment where providers thrive and get to work with a truly wonderful community of patients? Do you love medicine but want a different way to practice where there’s time to talk with your patients and contribute to a larger mission? At Oregon Health & Science University’s Student Health and Wellness Center, we provide the rare opportunity to practice the highest quality medical care without many of the barriers that exist in traditional primary care settings, and an opportunity to work towards the shared vision of student success.
When you join our primary care team, we will work together to provide excellent care for patients, strategize how to improve access for patients, partner with the behavioral health, integrative medicine and wellness teams to provide continuity of care for shared patients and promote all clinical and wellness services that SHW has to offer. You can expect to work independently while also providing consultation to other SHW primary care and behavioral health colleagues when necessary. We are committed to a work culture that promotes a work/life balance; therefore, there are occasional days when only one provider staffs the clinic. Additionally, all of our providers are credentialed through OHSU’s Department of Family Medicine.
The mission of SHW is to support Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) students and postdoctoral fellows in personal health and well-being during their academic careers at OHSU. We work to provide exceptional and confidential primary and behavioral health care in our integrated clinic, located on the primary OHSU campus on Marquam Hill in Portland, Oregon. The clinic provides behavioral health care, primary care, massage therapy and outreach programming to OHSU students, postdoctoral fellows, and their adult dependents.
Come work with a group of exceptional providers in an integrated health center that truly honors work life balance and prioritizes patient care. We have been widely recognized for our highly functional teamwork, patient satisfaction scores, and focus on multi-culturally competent care. This position comes with excellent paid time off, continuing medical education (CME), and retirement benefits. There is no weekend work and no after-hours patient call.
The OHSU Student Health and Wellness Center is committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in our work and with each other. Individuals from underrepresented groups (e.g. underrepresented races, genders, sexual orientations and abilities) as well as those that promote diversity, equity and inclusion are encouraged to apply.
The duties of this position include:
- Provide culturally affirming direct patient care within the OHSU Student Health and Wellness Center; interpreting history, physical and clinical data to develop treatment plans and referrals as needed; reproductive health care; minor dermatologic and sports medicine procedures; initial evaluation and treatment of behavioral health diagnoses; traveler’s health care; eating disorder evaluation and treatment; evaluating and treating acute and chronic illness; ordering labs and imaging studies as appropriate; and managing blood and body fluid exposures.
- Includes availability for on-call and coverage duties in rotation with other SHW practitioners throughout the year.
- Independently manage a diverse panel of patients while maintaining timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record. Clinicians are expected to complete medical record documentation, orders, inbox management, and care coordination tasks within organizational standards.
- Attend and participate in clinic meetings and quality improvement efforts, manage and complete CME requirements, report on courses and updates for other staff, maintain academic standing in department, and follow all OHSU, departmental and clinical policies and procedures
