Job Summary
The Patient Care Associate is responsible for supporting patient care activities within a healthcare environment by assisting patients, nursing staff, and healthcare teams in maintaining a safe, clean, and patient-focused care setting. This role helps improve patient experience through direct support services, communication assistance, patient transport, and basic clinical support functions.
The Patient Care Associate works as part of a collaborative healthcare team to ensure smooth daily operations within the patient unit while assisting with patient comfort, safety, and overall care support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment.
Support nursing staff and healthcare teams with patient care activities.
Assist with dietary-related patient care functions as needed.
Answer phones and facilitate communication within the patient unit.
Transport patients safely between departments and treatment areas.
Assist visitors and provide general patient support services.
Perform phlebotomy and EKG monitoring duties as required.
Help promote patient-focused care and positive patient experiences.
Support daily patient unit operations and workflow.
Follow healthcare safety standards, infection control procedures, and organizational policies.
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and team members.
Assist with additional patient support duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements / Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Certification in Phlebotomy required.
Certification in EKG monitoring required.
Graduate of a State Certified Program.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a healthcare team environment.
Strong attention to detail and patient care support skills.
Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion when interacting with patients and families.
Ability to work flexible schedules including alternate weekends.
