The Student Health Center at the State University of New York at Fredonia invites applications for a Nurse Practitioner (10-month) position in the Student Health Center. This position reports to the Medical Director and the Director of Health and Counseling Services.
This role provides direct primary care to students, with an emphasis on health promotion, disease prevention, and education. The Nurse Practitioner also contributes to campus-wide health initiatives and supports the ongoing development and quality improvement of Student Health Services.

Collaboration with campus partners is integral to delivering comprehensive, student-centered care.
Description of Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the following:
Clinical Care & Patient Services
-Provide direct primary care to a diverse student population through in-person and telehealth visits
-Conduct patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations
-Initiate diagnostic procedures and interpret results; perform laboratory testing as appropriate
-Formulate medical and nursing diagnoses and develop appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physician
-Evaluate patient outcomes, adjust treatment plans, and provide follow-up care or referrals as needed
-Document all care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record system
-Maintain infection control standards and adhere to universal precautions
Health Promotion & Education
-Provide health education and counseling to individuals and groups, focusing on prevention, wellness, and healthy behaviors
-Assist in the development, marketing, and implementation of campus-wide health education programs
-Support students in understanding and managing their health, including preventive care and chronic conditions
Collaboration & Care Coordination
-Collaborate with physicians, nurses, counselors, and other campus partners to ensure coordinated care
-Consult with campus stakeholders to support student wellbeing and academic success
-Participate in interdisciplinary case discussions as appropriate
Quality Improvement & Administration
-Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and strategic planning efforts within the Student Health Center
-Assist in maintaining standards of care and clinical protocols
-Support administrative functions as needed to ensure effective Health Center operations
-Serve on Student Health Center and campus committees as assigned
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
-Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program
-Current and unrestricted New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner
-Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
-National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., AANP or ANCC)
-Current CPR certification
-Experience in college health, primary care, urgent care, or emergency medicine
-Experience providing care to diverse student populations, including LGBTQIA+ students and gender-affirming care
-Experience with electronic medical record systems
