UTMB Health is a $2.2 billion academic health science center comprised of five hospitals, an extensive network of outpatient clinics, and Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions, Public and Population Health, and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Our research enterprise spans all schools and ten exceptional centers under the umbrella of three institutes with more than 150 scientists and physician scientists involved in infectious diseases research across campus. UTMB has a long and remarkable history of advancing health sciences education, research, and patient care. It was the first academic health center in Texas and is home to the state’s first schools of medicine, nursing, and allied health sciences.
Director - Breast Imaging - The UTMB Department of Radiology seeks a full-time radiologist to serve as Medical Director of the Division of Breast Imaging. The Director serves as the administrative and clinical leader of the division, overseeing all aspects of clinic’s operations. There are four dedicated breast imaging clinics in the coastal Galveston area; these include our clinics at the UTMB League City Campus and Galveston campus which are both designated as ACR Centers of Excellence in Breast Imaging. Smaller clinics are in Angleton and Clear Lake nearby. UTMB has new digital mammography and tomosynthesis units, and we also operate a mobile breast imaging van. We have 6 fellowship trained breast imaging radiologists that do not participate in general radiology duties or after-hours call.
Clinically, candidates should have experience in all aspects of Breast Imaging and procedures; including tomosynthesis, MRI, diagnostic ultrasound (US), biopsies (US, stereotactic/tomosynthesis, MRI guided), and pre-surgical localizations. UTMB radiology is a vibrant academic practice that educates 7-8 radiology residents per year, and 1-2 breast imaging fellows each year. UTMB Radiology can help foreign medical graduates gain certification by the American Board of Radiology.
The Clear Lake/League City area (home of the Johnson Space Center-NASA) is the focus of the majority of the UTMB Breast Imaging practice. Breast imaging positions are flexible and can be tailored to those interested in research, academic or leadership opportunities.
Candidate Requirements:
- M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree.
- Board Certification/Eligibility by the American Board of Radiology.
- The ability to obtain an unrestricted state of Texas Medical License.
Income Package: A merit-based hiring incentive is available for new recruits. Salary is competitive with other breast imaging practices in Texas and is commensurate with qualifications and level of experience.
