About Us
The Pain Center of Rhode Island is a small, physician-led private practice focused on helping patients with musculoskeletal pain through non-surgical, non-opioid treatments, including injection procedures and regenerative medicine.
Our goal is to provide excellent pain management services and an exceptional patient experience so we can make a meaningful impact on our patients’ lives and help redefine what pain management should look like.
As a small company, we are looking for team members who share our passion for changing lives, are eager to learn about the latest advancements in pain management, and value the challenge and growth that come with working in this field.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner. As one of our highly valued providers, you will work alongside our physician and nurse practitioner and serve as one of the faces of our practice.
You will build and manage your own patient panel, perform injection treatments, work directly with our physician, and play an important role in growing the clinical side of our practice.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants independence, responsibility, and the ability to grow within our company.
Your primary objective will be to build trust with patients, create treatment plans using the full range of our treatment options, and perform injection procedures, including ultrasound-guided treatments when appropriate.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in outpatient, non-opioid pain management who thrives in an autonomous role and wants to take on greater responsibility as our company expands.
What You’ll Do
- Independently evaluate and manage patients with musculoskeletal and pain conditions
- Develop treatment plans in collaboration with our physician
- Perform joint, bursa, trigger-point, and other office-based injection procedures within your training and scope
- Build and manage your own growing patient panel
- Educate patients and communicate treatment options clearly and compassionately
- Learn and incorporate regenerative and orthobiologic treatments into your practice
- Work closely with and help train/manage a Medical Assistant
- Maintain efficient documentation and quickly learn our clinical software
Requirements
- Active Rhode Island NP/APRN license in good standing
- Active DEA registration
- National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
This Role Is Best If You Have
- Minimum of 2 years of independent clinical experience — no recent graduates
- Prior experience in pain management, orthopedics, PM&R, sports medicine, urgent care, or musculoskeletal medicine strongly preferred
- Prior hands-on injection experience; ultrasound-guided injection experience is a plus
- Comfort independently managing a full outpatient schedule
- Experience working with, training, or supervising Medical Assistants preferred
- Strong interest in non-opioid and non-surgical pain management
- A passion for delivering an exceptional patient experience
The Person We’re Looking For
You are confident practicing independently, communicate well with patients, and build trust quickly. You are compassionate, accountable, and resilient.
Most importantly, you want to grow with our company and become a long-term member of our team. If you want to build your own patient panel, develop expertise in the latest advancements in pain medicine, and take on greater responsibility as the practice expands, this position may be a strong fit for you.
