ER Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Salary Range: $29.00–$39.00 per hour

Position Type: Full-Time

Apex Vets is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team.

Apex Vets is an independently owned emergency and specialty veterinary hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. Our technicians work alongside emergency doctors and specialty teams to provide nursing care for urgent, hospitalized, and critically ill patients.

Position Responsibilities

• Monitor and provide nursing care for hospitalized patients
• Obtain patient histories and perform nursing assessments
• Identify and communicate changes in patient condition
• Place and maintain intravenous catheters
• Administer medications and prescribed treatments
• Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory samples
• Run in-house diagnostic testing
• Calculate and administer fluids and CRIs
• Assist with anesthesia, procedures, and emergency interventions
• Obtain diagnostic radiographs
• Perform wound care and bandaging
• Maintain complete and accurate medical records
• Communicate clearly with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, clients, and other departments
• Maintain equipment, treatment areas, and hospital supplies
  
  

Qualifications

• RVT preferred
• LVT and CVT candidates are welcome to apply
• Emergency or critical care experience preferred
• Strong veterinary nursing and technical skills
• Ability to manage multiple patients and competing priorities
• Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable attendance and transportation
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and work on the floor for extended periods
  
  

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Day, evening, and overnight opportunities available
