Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is expanding its Emergency and Critical Care services in Dunwoody, and we're looking for experienced veterinary professionals who want to be part of a high-acuity emergency team.
We're hiring Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) and experienced Veterinary Assistants for swing shift and overnight ER opportunities.
If you thrive when the cases are complex, the pace is fast, and your technical skills matter, this is an opportunity to practice emergency medicine at a high level while working alongside experienced Emergency clinicians and specialty teams.
Swing Shift & Overnight Opportunities
12-hour shifts designed around Emergency and Critical Care coverage
We're specifically looking for professionals interested in:
- Swing Shift Emergency Veterinary Technician
- Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician
These shifts play an important role in maintaining continuity of care as patient volume changes throughout the day and into overnight hours.
What You'll Do
Emergency medicine requires strong clinical judgment, technical confidence, and the ability to stay focused when priorities change quickly.
You'll support:
- Emergency triage and patient assessment
- Stabilization of critical and emergent patients
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- In-house laboratory diagnostics
- Radiology and diagnostic imaging support
- Medication administration and fluid therapy
- Continuous patient monitoring
- Anesthesia and procedural support
- Oxygen therapy and emergency interventions
- Emergency surgery preparation and recovery
- ICU and hospitalized patient nursing
- Accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Client communication and patient advocacy
- Clear handoffs between shifts and clinical teams
You'll work with patients ranging from routine emergencies to complex, high-acuity cases requiring intensive monitoring and advanced nursing care.
Who We're Looking For
We are searching for veterinary professionals who bring technical confidence, curiosity, and a passion for emergency medicine.
Required Experience
- 2+ years of veterinary hospital experience preferred
- Experience in Emergency, Critical Care, Specialty Medicine, Surgery, or high-volume General Practice
- Strong foundation in:
- Veterinary nursing
- Patient monitoring
- Venipuncture
- IV catheter placement
- Medication administration
- Anesthesia monitoring
- Client communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credentials or ability to sit for VTNE
- RECOVER CPR Certification
- Advanced anesthesia experience
- Experience managing hospitalized or high-acuity patients
- Interest in pursuing advanced specialty training or VTS credentialing
Physical Requirements
Team members should be comfortable:
- Standing and walking throughout a 12-hour shift
- Frequently bending, lifting, kneeling, reaching, and performing patient restraint
- Safely lifting up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance
- Working effectively in a fast-paced Emergency environment
- Working around animal dander, medical gases, cleaning products, disinfectants, blood, bodily fluids, and other veterinary-related substances

Qualified candidates may be eligible for:
- Up to $6,000 for LVTs with ER and specialty veterinary experience
- Up to $1,000 for Veterinary Assistants with professional ER or Critical Care experience
Eligibility and bonus amounts are based on qualifications and applicable program terms. Details will be discussed during the interview process.
Eligible recently credentialed LVTs may qualify for HeadStart, which can provide student loan repayment assistance, VTNE and licensure reimbursement, CE support, and professional development resources.
