Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado Duration: 9–12 Week Seasonal Commitment (Early June – August)
Position Overview
Perry-Mansfield is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Camp Nurse to join our historic performing arts community. This is a live-in seasonal position located on our rustic 74-acre campus in the heart of the Rockies. The Camp Nurse is the primary health officer for our community, providing high-quality care to children, teens, and adults. You will manage the camp infirmary, oversee medication administration, and ensure the safety and well-being of all campers and staff in a dynamic, creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Triage: Maintain set open infirmary hours (5 hours daily) and remain on-call on-site 24/7 for emergent needs. Provide first aid and supportive care for acute illnesses or injuries within the nursing scope of practice. Triage more serious cases and refer to higher levels of care as appropriate.
Medication Management: Strictly abide by State of Colorado rules and regulations for summer camps regarding the storage, recording, and administration of both scheduled and "as needed" (PRN) medications.
Health Screenings: Review camper health histories and medications prior to their arrival. Lead health screenings during check-in days to ensure all medical needs are documented and understood.
Operations & Compliance: Maintain and restock the camp infirmary supplies. Ensure all patient encounters are documented accurately in the CampDoc EMR system to maintain legal medical records.
Transportation: Accompany or transport campers to local walk-in clinics, hospitals, or pre-scheduled appointments as needed.
Leadership: Serve as an active member of the camp leadership team, collaborating with directors to promote a culture of health and wellness.
Per Diem Support Nursing Opportunities
We are also hiring Per Diem Nurses to assist on check-in days and cover shifts for the Residential Nurse. Per diem staff must remain on campus during their shift.
Day Shifts: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (7 hours) or 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM (7 hours).
Overnight Shifts: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM (10 hours).

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Licensure: Must hold an active nursing license (RN or LPN) valid in the state of Colorado (Compact/NLC states accepted).
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in pediatrics, school nursing, or emergency/urgent care preferred.
Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, ability to work independently, and proficiency with EMR systems (specifically CampDoc).
Attributes: A commitment to serving youth in a rustic, outdoor setting. Must be adaptable, organized, and possess excellent communication skills for interacting with parents and staff.
Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment health screening.
