Outpatient Behavioral Health | Rural Community Practice | Flexible Schedule
This outpatient Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in a rural community where behavioral health services are urgently needed. In this role, you will serve as the primary psychiatric provider for a medically underserved population, helping expand access to mental health care for both adults and youth. The position combines professional autonomy, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and a balanced outpatient schedule within a supportive community hospital environment.
Practice Overview
- 100% outpatient behavioral health practice located on the main campus of a respected community hospital
- Serve as the primary psychiatric provider, delivering continuity of care to a diverse patient population
- Collaborate with a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, primary care physicians, and pediatric providers
- Opportunity to address a wide range of behavioral health conditions through medication management and counseling support
- No required call, with only occasional consults from the emergency department if needed
- Strong focus on community mental health and improving access to psychiatric care in a rural setting
Schedule
- Full-time schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Option for flexible scheduling, including four 10-hour days (4x10s)
- 36 patient-facing hours and 4 administrative hours per week
- Average 12-14 patients per day, with a goal of approximately two patients per hour
- Optional opportunity to spend two half-days per week providing behavioral health support at a local school
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary of $120,000-$140,000, based on experience
- Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available
- 20 days of paid time off plus 10 extended sick days annually, both are accruable with rollover eligibility

- Licensure, certification, and DEA registration are fully covered
Candidate Profile
- Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) across the lifespan
- Comfortable practicing independently in a rural outpatient setting
- Experience with psychiatric medication management and counseling collaboration
- Interest in community mental health, youth behavioral health, and school-based outreach programs, and a passion for serving medically underserved populations
